Rodolfo Amoedo

Rodolfo Amoedo ( born December 11, 1857 in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, † May 31, 1941 in Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian painter.

Life

Early age of 16 came Amoedo to the Liceu de Artes Imperial, where he was a student of Victor Meirelles, Costa Miranda and Sousa Lobo. At the annual exhibition of the Academia Imperial de Belas Artes some works have been awarded by Amoedo. This is also a travel scholarship was connected, by means of which he traveled to Paris the following year.

There he was in the same year student at the Académie Julian. Later change with the support of his teachers at the École des Beaux -Arts and was, among other things taught by Paul Baudry, Alexandre Cabanel and Pierre Puvis de Chavannes. With their intercession he could in 1882, 1883 and 1884 to participate in the great exhibitions of the Salon de Paris.

1888 Amoedo returned to Brazil and settled in Rio de Janeiro. There he founded a studio and was also a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts, the Escola Nacional de Belas Artes, in charge.

With nearly 84 years Rodolfo Amoedo died on 31 May 1941 in Rio de Janeiro and found his final resting place.
