Rodolfo Oroz

Rodolfo Oroz ( born July 8, 1895 in Santiago de Chile, † April 13, 1997 in Santiago de Chile) was a Chilean Latin scholar, linguist and Hispanist Basque descent.

Life and work

Rodolfo Oroz disc studied at the University of Leipzig. From 1933 he worked at the University of Chile, first in the Pedagogical Institute, from 1944 in Philological Institute. From 1959 to 1980 he was president of the Academia Chilena de la Lengua, the Premio Rodolfo Oroz Doctor ( for linguistic work ) atiftete who has named after him.

Rodolfo Oroz was awarded the 1978 Premio Nacional de Literatura de Chile.
