Rodrigo Bernal

Rodrigo Bernal ( born June 6, 1959 in Medellín ) is a Colombian botanist, he is best known for his work on Neotropical palms. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " R.Bernal ".

Life

Bernal was born on June 6, 1959 in Medellín, where he studied agricultural science at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He completed his studies in 1983. From 1984, he conducted research and taught at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá. after he received his doctorate at the University of Aarhus in Denmark and became an Assistant Professor in Bogotá.

He worked mainly on the palm family ( Arecaceae ). So far, he was able to publish over 20 original articles and also erstbeschreiben together with Gloria Galeano, several new species.
