Rodrigo Carazo Odio

Rodrigo José Ramón Francisco de Jesús Carazo Odio (* December 27, 1926 in Cartago, † December 9, 2009 in San José ) was a Costa Rican politician ( Unidad ).

Life

Carazo Odio was director of the Central Bank of Costa Rica and managers of the nationalized oil industry in his country. Carazo was dated May 8, 1978 to May 7, president in 1982. During his tenure, the UN University for Peace was established in 1980 in Costa Rica. He was regarded as a critic of the International Monetary Fund IMF. His government in 1981 broke off diplomatic relations with Cuba.

He won the elections by a large margin at that time and was able to form after a long time a Conservative government.
