Roger Avary

Roger Avary ( born August 23, 1965 in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada) is an American film director, screenwriter and film producer.

Life

Avary was known by his former friendship with Quentin Tarantino, in his screenplays, he cooperated. Tarantino retaliated with the production of the film Killing Zoe Avarys (1993). Both received an Oscar for her screenplay for Pulp Fiction (1994). Then Avary and Tarantino went their separate ways, which is mainly due to disputes relating to the naming of names in Pulp Fiction. So Tarantino sat down shortly by that in the opening credits, the phrase " written and directed by Quentin Tarantino " and related Avary was merely named as an inspiration of an episode.

The he wrote and directed the film The Rules of Attraction (2002 ) is based on a novel by Bret Easton Ellis. 2005 Avary wrote the script for the video game adaptation Silent Hill.

Together with Neil Gaiman in 2007 he was responsible for Beowulf Robert Zemeckis, the film adaptation of the epic hero poem.

13 January 2008 Avary was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide, but set free again after payment of $ 50,000. On September 30, 2009, he was, however, due to the consequences of the accident, which killed his newly married friend and Avarys woman was seriously injured, was sentenced to one year in prison and five years probation. In July 2010 he was released from prison.
