Rogue Valley AVA

The Rogue Valley AVA is a wine region in the south of the U.S. state of Oregon. The modern viticulture began in Oregon about the mid- 1960s, the recognition as American Viticultural Area (AVA ) was carried out in 2000.

The vineyard is part of the larger Southern Oregon AVA appellation and extends over the catchment area of ​​the Rogue River and its tributaries Illinois River, Applegate River and the Bear Creek. The majority of the wineries have so far settled in the valleys of the tributaries.

The majority of the nearly 110 × 100 km large area is not suitable for viticulture. So far, about 20 wineries were first founded. The climate of the appellation Rogue Valley AVA is one of the warmest and driest areas of Oregon.
