Roland TR-606

The TR -606 (sometimes called Drumatix ) is a drum machine from the Japanese company Roland. She became famous uses, among others, Mr. Oizo Flat Beat in his hit, by the Levi's advertising.

History

The TR -606 (Transistor Rhythm ) was published in 1982 as a rhythm instrument to visually very similar type TB -303 (Transistor Bassline ). Both devices were only a small group of customers, and production was discontinued soon. Today, the TR -606 is a popular vintage instrument and is used by artists such as Aphex Twin, Mr. Oizo, Moby, Astral Projection, Nine Inch Nails, OMD, Sneaker Pimps and others.

Description

Generally

The TR -606 is a pattern -based analog drum machine whose sounds (bass drum, snare drum, Hi Tom, Low Tom, closed hi hat, open hi-hat, cymbal ) can only be changed in the volume. The machine has an Accent function, which can give the additional dynamic rhythms. About the Roland DIN sync port, the drum machine as the TB- 303 or TR- 808 are synchronized - a useful feature, because at those times to MIDI had not been enforced as a studio communication standard.
