Rolf Gerling

Rolf Gerling (* December 15, 1954 in Cologne) is a German insurance business. He was the majority owner of the Gerling Group, whose board he chaired from 1992 until the sale of the company to Talanx AG in 2005.

Rolf Gerling, son of the insurance entrepreneur Hans Gerling grew on the Marienburg in Cologne studied by a banking apprenticeship 1974-1979 Business Administration at the University of Zurich and received his doctorate in 1986. 1989 he joined the Management Board of the Gerling insurance group one, who on his grandfather Robert Gerling fell and was developed by his father largest German industrial insurers.

As the sole heir of his deceased father in August 1991 Rolf Gerling moved the following year to the Supervisory Board of the company, where he took over the presidency.

In November 2005, Rolf Gerling sold the family business to Talanx insurance group that brought together the Gerling Group with the HDI.

The assets of Rolf Gerling is specified in the Forbes list in 2013 with about 1.75 billion U.S. dollars. He is ranked 868 in the Forbes list of the world and number 52 in Germany.
