Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Agaña

The Archdiocese Agaña (Latin: Archidioecesis Aganiensis ) is a location in Guam Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Hagåtña.

History

The Archdiocese Agaña was established on March 1, 1911 by Pope Pius X. territorial concessions from the Apostolic Prefecture Mariana Islands as Apostolic Vicariate of Guam. On 4 July 1946, the territory of the Apostolic Prefecture Mariana was affiliated with the Apostolic Vicariate of Guam.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Guam was posted on October 14, 1965 by Pope Paul VI. anno charged with the Apostolic Constitution Centenario to the diocese and renamed diocese Agaña. On March 8, 1984, the diocese Agaña by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Compertum quidem raised to an archbishopric. The Archdiocese Agaña announced on November 8, 1984 from parts of its territory to the foundation of built by the Apostolic Constitution Diocese of Chalan Kanoa Properamus.
