Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bertoua

The Archdiocese of Bertoua (Latin: Archidioecesis Bertuanus ) is a location in Cameroon Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Bertoua.

History

The Archdiocese of Bertoua was established on March 17, 1983 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Gravissimum officium of cessions of territory of the diocese Doumé as Bertoua diocese and the Archdiocese of Yaoundé is a suffragan. The diocese Bertoua announced on May 20, 1991 from parts of its territory to the foundation of the diocese Yokadouma. A further transfer of territory took place on 3 February 1994 foundation of the diocese Batouri.

On November 11, 1994, the diocese Bertoua by John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Pastorali quidem was raised to an archbishopric.
