Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Douala

The Archdiocese of Douala (Latin: Archidioecesis Dualaensis ) is a Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Douala in Cameroon.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded with the Breve Apostolicum munus the Apostolic Prefecture of Douala on 31 March of 1931 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Cameroon. On May 27, 1932, she was with the bull Ut praefecturae to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate raised.

With the bull Dum Tantis it was raised on 18 April 1950 in the rank of diocese, which was the Archdiocese of Yaoundé assumed as suffragan. With the Apostolic Constitution Eo magis catholica it was raised on 18 March 1982 in the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums.
