Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nassau

The Archdiocese of Nassau (Latin: Archidioecesis Nassaviensis ) is located in Bahamas Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Nassau. It covers the state of the Bahamas.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded on 21 March 1929, the Apostolic Prefecture of Bahama cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of New York. On January 15, 1941, the Apostolic Prefecture was raised to the Apostolic Vicariate and took the name of the Vicariate Apostolic of the Bahama Islands.

On 5 July 1960, the Apostolic Vicariate of the Diocese, which took the name of Nassau and the Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica was placed under a suffragan levied. The mission sui juris Turks and Caicos Islands was built from parts of its territory on 10 June 1984.

With the Apostolic Constitution Ad aptius consulendum it was collected on 22 June 1999 to the Metropolitan diocese.
