Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica

The Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica (Latin: Archidioecesis Regiopolitanus in Iamaica ) is a location in Jamaica Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Kingston.

History

The Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica was posted on January 10, 1837 by Pope Gregory XVI. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of Trinidad established as Apostolic Vicariate of Jamaica. On June 10, 1888, Apostolic Vicariate of Jamaica were from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of British Honduras. The Apostolic Vicariate of Jamaica was founded on February 29, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. raised to the bishopric and renamed diocese Kingston. On September 14, 1967, the Diocese of Kingston were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Montego Bay.

The Diocese of Kingston was born on September 14, 1967 by Pope Paul VI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Christ gregem to an archbishopric and renamed the Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica. On April 15, 1991, the Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica parts of its territory was from the foundation of the Apostolic Vicariate of Mandeville. Another area assignment was on 14 July 2000 establishing the mission sui juris Cayman Islands.
