Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tororo

The Archdiocese of Tororo (Latin: Archidioecesis Tororoensis ) is a Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Mbale in Eastern Uganda.

History

Forerunner of today's diocese is the 1894 by Pope Leo XIII. Founded Apostolic Vicariate Nilo Superiore, a spin-off from the Vicariate of Victoria Nyanza. In 1951 the name was changed in the Ap. Vicariate of Tororo and on 25 March 1953, the survey of the diocese by Pope Pius XII .. Pope John Paul II erected the Archdiocese of Tororo 1999.

Subordinate to the archdiocese are the suffragan Jinja, Kotido, Moroto and Soroti.
