Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala

The Archdiocese of Kampala (Latin: Archidioecesis Kampalaensis ) is located in Uganda Metropolitan diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.

History

Forerunner of today's Archdiocese of Kampala in 1880 by Leo XIII. Founded from the Apostolic Vicariate of Central Africa in Sudan out Apostolic Vicariate of Nyanza. The company name of the Vicariate changed in Victoria Nyanza (1883 ), Northern Victoria Nyanza (1894 ), and finally on January 15, 1915 Apostolic Vicariate of Uganda. Took place on 25 March in 1953 by Pope Pius XII. elevation to the archbishopric Rubaga. Pope Paul VI. founded on August 5, 1966 by renaming the current Archdiocese of Kampala. First bishop was Léon -Augustin -Antoine -Simeon Livinhac MAFR of the missionary order of the White Fathers.

Suffragan dioceses are Kasana - Luweero (1996 ), Kiyinda - Mityana (1981 ), Lugazi (1996) and Masaka ( 1953).
