Emmanuel Wamala

Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala (* December 15 1926 in Kamaggwa, Uganda ) is Archbishop Emeritus of Kampala.

Life

Emmanuel Wamala studied in Katigondo and Rome, the subjects of Catholic Theology, philosophy and social sciences, and received on 21 December 1957 in Rome, the sacrament of Holy Orders by Luigi Traglia. He put Lizentiatsprüfungen in Catholic theology and social sciences and deepened his studies in Rome, Kampala and at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana (USA). From 1960 to 1981 he worked in the Diocese of Masaka as a church pastor, school superintendent, high school teacher and vicar general.

On 17 July 1981, Pope John Paul II appointed the first bishop of the newly established Diocese Kiyinda - Mityana.
