Roman Catholic Diocese of Chingleput

The Diocese of Chingleput (Latin: Dioecesis Chingleputensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Chengalpattu ( Chingleput ). It covers the area of the district Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu.

History

The Diocese of Chingleput was established on 19 July 2002 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Cum provehendam ad aeternam from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Madras - Mylapore and this is a suffragan. First bishop was Anthonisamy Neethinathan.
