Roman Catholic Diocese of Colón-Kuna Yala
The Diocese of Colón - Kuna Yala (Latin: Dioecesis Columbensis - Kunayalensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Colon, Panama.
History
Pope John Paul II founded with the Bull Ad perpetuam rei memoriam on 15 December 1988, the Diocese of Colón, cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate of Darién and imputed it to the Archdiocese of Panama suffragan. On 13 June 1997, adopted its present name. It has an area of 8167 km ² and 248,000 inhabitants, including 178,000 Catholics (70 % of the population ), 17 parishes, 32 priests (20 diocesan and 12 religious ). There are 60 nuns and 8 major seminarians. It includes the province of Colón and the indigenous territory of Guna Yala.
