History

The Diocese of El Banco was on 17 January 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Munus Nostrum from annexations of the dioceses of Santa Marta and Valledupar and the Archdiocese of Barranquilla is a suffragan. First bishop was Jaime Enrique Duque Correa MXY.
