Roman Catholic Diocese of Granada en Colombia

The Diocese of Granada en Colombia (Latin: Dioecesis Granadiensis in Columbia, Spanish: diócesis de Granada ) is a location in Columbia Roman Catholic diocese based in Granada en Colombia.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Ariari on January 16, 1964 from annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Villavicencio. On 3 October 1987, she was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate.

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum Vicariatus it was raised on 29 October 1999 to the diocese, adopted its current name and the Archdiocese of Bogotá was assumed as suffragan.

On 3 July, 2004, it was part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Villavicencio.
