Roman Catholic Diocese of Melo

The Diocese of Melo (Latin Dioecesis Melensis ) is a Roman Catholic suffragan in Uruguay, headquartered in Melo. Diocesan Bishop Heriberto Andrés Fernández Bodeant.

History

From the division of the Diocese of Florida today Melo diocese was established on 15 November 1955. From the diocese territory Melo showed the diocese of Minas on 25 June 1960. Canon law is under the Diocese of Melo and the Metropolitan Diocese Archdiocese of Montevideo. In diocese living in the sixteen parishes about 110,000 Roman Catholics. Pastoral care they are eleven diocesan priests, eight priests, a deacon in the permanent diaconate.
