Roman Catholic Diocese of Mindelo

Located in Cape Verde Mindelo immediate diocese (Latin: Dioecesis Mindelensis ) was removed from the name immediately Diocese of Santiago de Cabo Verde on 9 December 2003. The newly-built diocese counted when it was founded 149 230 Catholics (95%) in 14 parishes with 19 priests (7 diocesan priests ), 17 religious priests and 53 nuns. It has a size of 2,230 km ².

Pope Benedict XVI. has appointed the Fidei Donum priests, diocesan chancellor and pastor of Mindelo Sao Vicente, Augusto dos Santos Lopes Fortes, Bishop of Mindelo on January 25, 2011.
