Roman Catholic Diocese of Saitama

The Diocese of Saitama (Latin: Dioecesis Saitamaensis, Japaneseカトリック さいたま 教区, katorikku Saitama Kyoku ) is a location in Japan Roman Catholic diocese based in Saitama.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Urawa on January 4, 1939 cessions of territory of the Diocese of Yokohama.

With the Apostolic Constitution Dei Qui superna it was collected on 16 December 1957 to the diocese. On 31 March 2003, it adopted its present name after 2001 was incorporated Urawa, Saitama.

Territory

The diocese consists of the prefectures Saitama Saitama, Gunma, Ibaraki and Tochigi on the entire island of Honshu.
