Roman Catholic Diocese of Yokohama
The Diocese of Yokohama (Latin: Dioecesis Yokohamaensis, Japaneseカトリック 横浜 教区, katorikku Yokohama Kyoku ) is a location in Japan Roman Catholic diocese based in Yokohama. It consists of the prefectures Kanagawa, Nagano, Shizuoka and Yamanashi.
History
Pope Pius XI. founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Quod iamdiu on 9 November 1937 cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Tokyo, where it was assumed as a suffragan.
On 4 January 1939, lost part of its territory to the Prefecture Apostolic of Urawa.
