Roman Catholic Diocese of Shantou
The Diocese of Shantou (Latin: Dioecesis Scianteuvensis ) is a located in the People's Republic of China Roman Catholic diocese based in Shantou.
History
The Diocese of Shantou was established on April 6, 1914 by Pope Pius X. territorial concessions from the Apostolic Vicariate of Guangdong as Apostolic Vicariate Kiaotsu. On August 18, 1915, the Apostolic Vicariate Kiaotsu was renamed Vicariate Apostolic Shantou.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Shantou was posted on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Canton is a suffragan.
