Roman Catholic Diocese of Tortona

The Diocese of Tortona (Latin: Dioecesis Derthonensis, Italian: Diocese of Tortona ) is a located in Italy Roman Catholic diocese based in Tortona.

History

The Diocese of Tortona was built in the 2nd century and the Archdiocese of Milan is a suffragan. In 1014 the diocese of Tortona were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Bobbio. The Diocese of Tortona was dissolved in 1803 and the territory was the bishopric of Casale Monferrato affiliated.

On July 17, 1817, the Diocese of Tortona was built again by Pope Pius VII, with the Apostolic Constitution Beati Petri and the Archdiocese of Genoa is a suffragan.

The Diocese of Tortona covers 144 parishes in the province of Alessandria, 143 parishes in the province of Pavia and 27 parishes in the province of Genoa.
