Roman Catholic Diocese of Yichang

The Diocese of Yichang (Latin: Dioecesis Iciamensis ) is a located in the People's Republic of China Roman Catholic diocese based in Yichang.

History

The Diocese of Yichang was taken on September 2, 1870 as a result of the division of the Apostolic Vicariate Apostolic Vicariate Hubei in the north-western Hubei, South-West Hubei and eastern Hubei. The Apostolic Vicariate of Southwest Hubei was renamed on December 3, 1924 in Apostolic Vicariate of Yichang. On July 6, 1936, the Apostolic Vicariate of Yichang gave parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Shashi. A further transfer of territory took place on June 14, 1938 from establishing the Apostolic Vicariate Shinan.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Yichang was posted on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Hankow is a suffragan.
