The Rombaksfjord or Rombaken is the innermost arm of the Ofotfjords in Norway.

Geography

It is located in the municipality of Narvik in the landscape Ofoten in the province of Nordland, north and east of the port city of Narvik.

Surrounded by towering mountains, the fjord is approximately 20 km long and up to 344 m deep. At its confluence with the Ofotfjord he is about 1.4 km wide at its widest point is about 4 km. In the last 10 km of the Rombaksbrücke to the east, the Rombaksbotn, he is only about 1 km wide.

The European Route 6 runs from Narvik coming, along the south shore of the fjord, crossing it on the Rombaksbrücke and then continues towards the north. On the north bank of the Rombaksfjords it extends several kilometers together with the Kiruna in northern Sweden coming and leading to Lofoten Europe Road 10

The Hålogalandbrücke, a since February 2013 under construction suspension bridge over the mouth of the Rombaksfords in the Ofotfjord is the driving distance on the E6 from Narvik to Bjerkvik and to Harstad to 17 km and on the E 10 after Bjørnfjell 5 km from Narvik shorten. History

On April 13, 1940 during the second British counter- attack on April 9, occupied during the invasion of Norway by German naval units and mountain troops port of Narvik, the last four of the ten German destroyers were scuttled in Rombaksfjord by their crews after their entire ammunition were fired.
