Romeo Rivers

Romeo Norman Rivers ( born March 28, 1907 in Springfield, Manitoba; † 4 May 1986 as Winnipeg, Manitoba ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. In the 1932 Olympics he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Romeo Rivers began his career as a hockey player at junior level at the Winnipeg Victorias and the Elmwood Millionaires, for which he was active 1924-1927. In the senior level, he then played for the Winnipeg Eaton's Winnipeg and the CPR. In 1931, he won with the Winnipeg Hockey Club the Allan Cup, the Canadian Amateur Championship. At the Winter Games in 1932, he represented Canada at the Winnipeg Hockey Club. Later he took in 1935 with the Winnipeg Monarchs at the World Cup in 1935 in part. In 2004, he was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame.

Internationally

For Canada Rivers participated in the 1932 Olympics in Lake Placid, where he won the gold medal with his team. At the World Championships 1935 he won with his team also the gold medal.
