Ron Raikes

Ron Raikes ( born March 11, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska, † September 5 in Ashland, Nebraska, 2009) was an American politician, farmer and senator from Lincoln, Nebraska, in the Nebraska Legislature.

Raikes visited the Ashland High School and graduated from an agricultural studies at Iowa State University. At the University of California- Davis, he received the Master's degree in agriculture business management and the Ph.D. in agriculture economics. He was a member of the Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board, the Nebraska Farm Business Association, the Nebraska Agriculture Relations Council, the Nebraska Country Improvement Contractors Association and the Agriculture Builders of Nebraska.

Raikes was on 15 May 1997 successor to the late Jerome Warner in the State Legislature. He was then elected in 1998 to represent the 25th Nebraska legislative district and was re- elected in 2000 and 2004. He was chairman of the Education committee, was in the Revenue committee, the Education Commission of the States and the Midwestern Higher Education Compact. He was succeeded by Kathy Campbell.

Raikes was found under an agricultural implement. The local authorities have classified his death as an accident and ordered an autopsy.
