Ronan O'Gara

Ronan John Ross O'Gara ( born March 7, 1977 in San Diego ) is an Irish rugby union player who is used to the position of the connecting Halbs. He is active for the Irish rugby union team and the province of Munster. He participated three times in the Tour of the British and Irish Lions and thereby came to two inserts.

O'Gara holds the record for the player with the most goals in the Heineken Cup points with more than 1000 meters. In the international list of the most successful player, he is in 6th place with 929 points in 93 internationals.

Born in San Diego O'Gara attended school and university in Cork, Ireland, where he met his team-mate Peter Stringer, with whom he played many games. Already in the youth selections, he showed his great talent and was allowed to play for the U21 Ireland. In 1997 he moved into a top international club Munster, for which he actively plays to this day.

Among his greatest successes was the victory in the Heineken Cup with Munster in 2006 and 2008 as well as the achievement of the Triple Crown in the Six Nations in 2006 and 2007, when the Irish missed only ever a defeat against France overall victory.

At Six Nations 2009 he passed his 17 points in the game against Scotland Jonny Wilkinson as top scorer of the traditional tournament. At the end of the tournament, the Irish arrived after 1948, the second Grand Slam, O'Gara was present at all the games in the starting lineup. On April 21, he was nominated by Ian McGeechan for the tour of the British and Irish Lions to South Africa.
