Ronan of Locronan

Ronan of Locronan also Renan, Latin. - Celtic: the regenerate, (* in Ireland around 600, † at Hillion ) is a Catholic saint. He was a hermit and missionary bishop in Brittany. His grave is located in the Church in Locronan.

According to tradition he was a pupil of Senan, whom he had accompanied to Brittany. About 990 were probably relics in the abbey of Tavistock in Devonshire. About his life, there are some legends. He lived with Hillion on the Cotes d' Armor, between Lamballe and Saint -Brieuc, where he died. Over his grave in Locronan, a church was built in the Middle Ages. Every seven years there is a large procession here. His feast day is June 1.
