Root crown

As the root of the neck of the lower part of the hypocotyl of plants is known. This part is often swollen. It is the transition zone between shoot axis and (main) root. The root collar is the one covered with a shoot epidermis, this often forms Wurzelhalsrhizoiden ( unicellular trichomes as an outgrowth of the epidermal cell ).
