Roque Júnior

José Vítor Roque Júnior ( born August 31, 1976 in Santa Rita do Sapucai ) is a former Brazilian footballer.

Club career

Roque Júnior played for São José EC Palmeiras Sao Paulo, AC Milan, Leeds United and AC Siena before he joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2004. For Leverkusen, he played 35 times in the Bundesliga. He was, however, very susceptible to injury and was rarely used. After the 2006/ 07 season Roque Juniors contract was not renewed at Bayer. In October 2007, newly promoted Bundesliga MSV Duisburg him committed for the rest of the season 2007/ 08 to strengthen the injury- plagued defense.

After four games for the MSV Roque Júnior announced that he does not see himself more mentally able to play in the Bundesliga. Its up to the summer of ongoing contract was not dissolved, but he no longer was in the first team of zebras. In April 2008 he moved to Qatar with Al- Rayyan Sports Club, where he signed a one year contract, but has not been used due to its problems. In September 2008 he returned to Brazil, where he signed a contract until the end of the year at Palmeiras.

In 1998 he was with Palmeiras Brazilian Cup winner. His biggest success in club football, he celebrated during his time at AC Milan, with whom he won the Italian Cup and the Champions League in 2003.

National

For the Brazilian national team played Roque Júnior 48 times. He won with the team the World Cup 2002. At the 2006 World Cup he no longer participated. During his national time he was in the meantime their captain.
