Rory Kiely

Rory Kiely ( born May 1, 1934 in Feenagh, Kilmallock, County Limerick ) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.

Biography

After attending the Christian Brothers School in Charleville, he studied Social and Agricultural Sciences at University College Cork and graduated with a diploma.

Kiely, who was then a farmer, was elected in 1977 as the candidate of the Fianna Fáil for the first time as a member of the Senate ( Seanad Eireann ) and represented there for thirty years except for a brief period 1982-1983 to 2007, the Section for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, the so-called Agricultural panel. Previously, he had in 1969 unsuccessfully running for a seat in the Senate. Between January 1998 and September 2002, he was also a deputy member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council.

Last time was on September 12, 2002 to September 13, 2007 Cathaoirleach and therefore President of the Senate.

He was also not only a trustee of the Gaelic Athletic Association ( GAA), but is also a member of the Executive Board of the GAA for the province of Munster since 1982.
