Cathaoirleach
Cathaoirleach ( pronunciation: [ ka ˌ hi ː ɾ ʲ l ʲ ɘx ] ) is the official title of Chairman of the Irish House of Lords ( Seanad Éireann ). The rights of the Cathaoirleach include, inter alia:
- The grant of the right to speak,
- The introduction of questions to the Upper House, which monitoring for tracking progress and announcing the result,
- In cases of serious misconduct, the dismissal of members of parliament or the issue of ban,
- By the house rules the (temporary ) exclusion of upper house members of the Seanad.
The Cathaoirleach is an ex officio member of the Commission Chairman, acting as Vice - President of Ireland. The term Cathaoirleach is widely used in Ireland for chairman of various organizations.
