Rosa Albach-Retty

Rosa Albach -Retty, nee Rosa Clara Franziska Helene Retty, ( born December 26, 1874 in Hanau, Hesse, † August 26 1980 in Baden, Lower Austria ) was an Austrian actress.

Life

It belongs to a traditional acting dynasty. Rosa's father was the actor and director Rudolf Retty, of which she was also trained. Since 1890 she played at theaters in Berlin. She looked first at the Berlin Lessing Theater, where it celebrated its first successes in the title role of Minna von Barn-helm. Also trouser roles ( Little Lord Fauntleroy, The Merchant of Venice ) were among their repertoire. 1895 to 1903 she was engaged at the German National Theatre in Vienna and then at Vienna's Burgtheater. There she received in 1905 the title of court actress. In 1928 she was made an honorary member of the Burgtheater, 1958 she gave her farewell performance.

Her film debut was in 1930 in the movie money on the street. Their descendants were famous actors. Her son from his marriage to the Imperial and Royal officer Karl Albach was the actor Wolf Albach -Retty, whose daughter, so the granddaughter of Rosa Albach- Retty, the actress Romy Schneider was. Rosa Albach -Retty died in 1980 at the age of 105 years, after they have the hundredth birthday of her autobiography are so short was released 100 years.
