Rosières lies partly in the plain of Emblavès whose formation dates back to the Tertiary period. The descendant of the primordial seas of the Massif Central clay -covered granite formations, some of which may have as the basin of Emblavès lowered. However, the area extends not only in the plane, there are also surveys of volcanic origin, which originated about 13 million years by eruption of lava. If she was viscous, they gathered in to form a Suc -called dome, such as the present surveys Suc de Rougeac, Suc de la Mûre and Suc de Jalore. Due to this volcanic activity the force of the river was activated: the clay layers were freed by erosion and show today in some places their diversity of colors, which generally whitish color are interrupted by red, green, blue and ocher yellow interlayers.
