Roșiorii de Vede

Rosiorii de Veda (sometimes Rosiori de Veda ) is a town in the district Teleorman Wallachia. It is one of the oldest towns in Romania. The village was mentioned in documents in 1385 for the first time after two German pilgrims returning from Jerusalem.

Rosiorii de Veda was one of the most important military and cultural cities of Wallachia. In the city or the surrounding area a number of famous people were born: Radu Grămăticu, Alexandru Depărăţeanu (1835-1865), Gala Galaction (1879-1961), Zaharia Stancu (1902-1974) and Marin Preda ( 1922-1980 ).
