Ross Turnbull

Ross Turnbull (born 4 January 1985 in Bishop Auckland ) is an English football goalkeeper who currently stands at Doncaster Rovers under contract.

Childhood

Turnbull visited the Byerley Park Primary School and then the Woodham Community Technology College. In addition to his academic training, he played in the local football team Newton Ayclife, but not in the goal but first in the midfield. Coach Arthur Vickerstaff trained Turnbull later to return to the goalkeeper. Finally, various clubs such as Sunderland worked to the young keeper, but the opted for the youth department of FC Middlesbrough.

Career

Middlesbrough

After working for various youth teams Turnbull 2002 signed a professional contract with Middlesbrough. At the Junior World Cup 2003, he played for England. After various rental stations, most of which were limited to only three months to Turnbull was in July 2007, giving for an entire season at Cardiff City where he, who had left the club Neil Alexander, was intended to replace. After Turnbull had committed a number of errors, it was replaced by Michael Oakes. So it was that he was brought back on 5 October 2007 to Middlesbrough because the goalkeeper Brad Jones was hurt. Immediately after his return, he played two games, as well as first-choice goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer fell with a broken thumb. One of those games was a 2-1 win against Arsenal. After more than 11 years at Middlesbrough Mark Schwarzer left the club in the direction of Fulham FC. Coach Gareth Southgate wanted to buy a new goalkeeper and left to fight out the space in the gate between Jones and Turnbull. The first games of the season denied nor Jones. As this, however, injured, Turnbull took the chance and got the rest of the season between the posts. In June 2009, Turnbull was offered a contract extension, but he refused.

Chelsea FC

On 2 July 2009 it was announced that Turnbull would a free transfer to Chelsea, where he signed a contract for four years. Turnbull announced after his commitment that he had not come to sit on the bench and be a replacement for Petr Čech and that he would fight for a regular place. In the first game of the new season against Hull City but Turnbull was not even in the squad, which is why the rumor came up, Turnbull was not as previously thought been committed as number two but number three. On the second matchday but Turnbull was back on the bench.

Doncaster Rovers

After the expiry of his contract at Chelsea to Turnbull closed for the season 2013/14 at the Doncaster Rovers, who had previously been promoted to the Football League Championship.

Private

Turnbull is married and has a daughter and a son. His son became in May 2013 as a two year old attention when he took after the last season game ball at the center line in and transported into the goal. The crowd cheered him and shouted "Sign him up! " (Eng. " Take him under contract " ).
