Rostislav Václavíček

Rostislav Václavíček (born 7 December 1946 in Vrahovice, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czechoslovak football player. With the Czechoslovak team he won the 1980 Olympic football tournament. With 280 first division matches in a row he is Czechoslovak record holder.

Career

Rostislav Václavíček played since his youth for Železárny Prostějov, where he was again used mostly as an attacking midfielder, back and also as a striker. 1970 should be 1.90 m wide Václavíček switch to Zbrojovka Brno, which fought against relegation from the first division. The coach could Václavíček finish a move to Brno, instead negotiated his club Banik Ostrava with, but without result. Finally, Železárny Prostějov agreed with the second division NHKG Ostrava via a transfer. As a fee for Václavíček built the carrier of NHKG, the steel plant Nová huť a stand within the stadium of Prostějov, which still stands today.

1971 moved Václavíček, now converted to the defenders, but still Zbrojovka. From 1 May 1972 to 10 June 1981, he joined 280 encounters without interruption for Zbrojovka until today Czechoslovak respectively Czech record. In the season 1977/78 he led his team as captain to the only previous title in the club's history.

In the senior team never made the reliable Václavíček, with the Czechoslovak Olympic team, for which he completed 17 games, he won at the Games in 1980 the gold medal.

In 1981, Václavíček to KSC Hasselt in the Belgian 2nd league where Josef Masopust worked as a coach. He returned in 1984 back to Brno, which was now relegated to the second league. After two seasons in which his team tried in vain to move up, Václavíček ended his career. By 1990, he was still active as player-coach in the lower Austrian leagues.

After playing career

Václavíček 1990 returned back to Brno, where he worked until 1993 as an assistant coach until 1995 and as an official. He then took over at smaller clubs in the Czech Republic as coach in season 2006/ 07 trained Václavíček the fifth-tier FC CVM Mokrá - Horákov.
