Rostrenen
Rostrenen is a commune with 3272 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Côtes- d'Armor in the Brittany region; it belongs to the district Guingamp and Canton Rostrenen. The community belongs to the Communauté de communes du Kommunalverband primary circuit - Breizh.
The place does lay claim to be in France with the most rainy days.
History
Rostrenen means in Breton " Brombeerhügel " - according to tradition, the wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, who is in the church of the village, was found in a bramble hedge. At an annual procession (August 15 - Assumption Day ) it is shown in the open air. The pilgrimage on the occasion of this procession is one of the most visited in Brittany.
Attractions
- The church of Notre -Dame- du- Roncier was built in the 13th century. A side door is historique since 1913 Monument.
- The chapel Loc Maria dates from the 14th century. Since 1964 she is Monument historique.
- Le Manoir de Kampostal is a manor house dating from the 16th century.
