Rotation period

The rotation period is the time interval which elapses until a rotating body with respect to its surrounding area returns to the same position.

The rotation period of the Earth is 24 hours, or more precisely a sidereal day ( approximately 23 h, 56 min). If a dancer in 1 second turns 5 pirouettes, its rotation period - averaged - 1/5 sec, so 200 milliseconds.
