Rottenburg University of Applied Forest Sciences

The College of Forestry of Rottenburg is a State University of Applied Sciences in Rottenburg am Neckar in Baden- Württemberg. The aim of the six courses is a sustainable management in the use of natural resources. History

In 1954, the state of Baden -Württemberg in Schadenweilerhof in Rottenburg a forestry school, which was in 1979 transformed into the College of Forestry. First, the college served only as " internal administrative training center ' for forestry officials of the upscale Forest Service of the states of Baden -Württemberg, Rhineland -Palatinate, Saarland and the Federal Property Management. Since 1995, the university is open to the public.

Schadenweilerhof

The university is located in Schadenweilerhof, about two kilometers south of town near the Rammert. On the site was to the 15th century, the village hamlet damage, which was donated in 1100 to the monastery Hirsau. The village disappeared in the 15th century. 1570 a noble residence built on the mountian by Messrs. Werner von Themar. During a siege of the needle seat was almost completely destroyed in the 17th century. Later he went into the possession of the hospital and the town of Rottenburg. The farm was burned down several times.

During the period of National Socialism was the SA- university Office Tübingen tenant of the farm. It was set up an SA school. After the Second World War the estate served as accommodation for French troops.
