Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles
Starship Troopers (alternatively: Starship Troopers Chronicles Original title: Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles ) is an American animated series from 1999, based on the novel Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein. Producers were Paul Verhoeven and Richard Raynis.
The series draws on many elements of Paul Verhoeven film Starship Troopers, but contains much more elements from the novel. The controversial policy from the book but is not treated.
Production and publication
In the production of Adelaide Productions Andre Clavel directed. 40 episodes were planned for the series. It has worked with three teams who had three weeks to complete a sequence. However, when the production came in late, only 36 episodes were produced. The series was never completed and ends the middle of the story arc.
The first broadcast took place from 30 August 1999 The Sci-Fi Channel in the U.S.. Each week five episodes were broadcast. In Germany, the series first ran on opening night and was published from 2001 to 2003 on seven DVDs. The DVDs are ordered by the respective arcs.
