Round-bottom flask
Round-bottomed flask consist of a lower spherical portion and a cylindrical neck. They are made of Duran (glass) (formerly Jena glass ) prepared and standardized according to DIN / ISO Reaction vessels in the chemical industry. They are manufactured in various sizes (from 10 ml to 25 l ) and also as a multi-necked flask with straight or lateral necks. Also in brown glass made round -bottomed flask occasionally used in the laboratory.
Other models:
- Narrow neck and wide neck flask
- Long-necked and short- necked flask
- Flask with or without " touch" ( SGJ, spherical joints, etc.).
Round bottom flask with standard ground have many different core sizes in the laboratory. The most common, NS 29/32 is used to connect other glassware (eg, radiator ). In addition, in laboratory and industry round-bottomed flask be used with spherical joints, such as receiving flask for the distillate to rotary evaporators.
Round-bottomed flask may - in contrast to flat-bottomed flask ( eg, Erlenmeyer flask) - are put under vacuum, without the risk of an implosion could be. In addition, the round shape allows uniform heating.
