Round Castle (Mardakan)

The round Mərdəkan Castle is a castle in the village Mərdəkan on the peninsula Absheron in Azerbaijan, which was part of the chain attachment on the peninsula. It was built in the 13th century and is similarly applied as the castle of Ramana. According to one inscription Abdulmajid Ibn Masud is the builder.

The castle consists of a circular residential tower with three storeys, surrounded by an almost square wall. The inputs to the courtyard and tower are offset from each other to provide better protection.
