Rowley Island

Rowley Iceland is an island in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut.

It is located in the north of Foxe Basin. Their land area is 1090 km ². The island has a maximum extent in the north-south direction of 69 km and a width of 22 km. The highest peak reaches 137 m.

The island is uninhabited. In Rowley Iceland is an unmanned facility of the Distant Early Warning Line is called FOX- 1 at ( 69 ° 4 ' 1 "N, 79 ° 3' 54" W69.066944444444 - 79 065 ), as well as an automated weather station.

The island was named after the polar explorer Graham Westbrook Rowley.
