Roy Berocay

Berocay Roy (* 1955 in Montevideo, Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan writer and children's book author.

The father of five children, who also has six grandchildren, is the most awarded children's book author in his home country. Its well-known beyond the borders of the country beyond works are icons of children 's literature.

Since 1980, the journalist started working for the newspaper El Diario as a police reporter, music critic and columnist of humorous. He also worked for the weekly Aquí and magazines Guambia, Zeta and El Dedo. From 1982 to 1955 he was Uruguay correspondent for the news agency Reuters. Even for a career as editor of the journal El sapo Ruperto he can look back. At least the beginning of the 21st century he was in the service of the weekly newspaper Búsqueda. His first novel, Pescasueños, he published in 1986. Afterwards, he then turned to the children's and youth literature. In this area he is particularly known for the stories about the character of Toad Ruperto ( sapo Ruperto ). In 1990 his second novel under the title La noche del dragon. In addition, the Berocay is also active as a musician and composer. He was a guitarist, composer and singer in the Uruguayan rock and blues group El conde de Saint Germain and is currently a member of the rock band La Conjura de los Necios.
