Roy Fedden

Alfred Hubert Roy Fedden (* 1885, † 1973) was a British aeronautical engineer.

Feddon played a major role in the development of the radial engine as powerful aircraft propulsion. He trained at Bristol motor and went to Brazil Straker in 1906, where he developed a successful car shamrock. There he became chief designer in 1914. With the acquisition of Straker by Cosmos Engineering and the subsequent purchase of Cosmos by Bristol 1920 Fedden head of the engine department at Bristol Aircraft Company.

He developed there in the 1920s, a series of successful engines, such as the Bristol Jupiter. For the development of efficient pusher engines, he was knighted in 1942. In 1945 he set out with the Roy Fedden Ltd.. independently and designed vehicles and aircraft, but without success. For a short time he worked for Dowty as a consultant. Finally, he gave lessons at Cranfield University.

His daughter Mary Fedden is a well known artist.
